Every year, our forests shrink, and natural wood becomes scarcer and more expensive. It is also vulnerable to decay from moisture, fire, and termites.

Dr. Babu, a visionary Kinemetician and scientist with decades of expertise in material transformation, set out to
create a unique material that combines the beauty, strength, and workability of wood while preserving forests.
With the backing of Steer World, he developed unWOOD, an innovative material called Macro Molecular Fiber Matrix (MMFM) that unites sustainability, strength, and practicality
while incorporating plastic waste in its formulation.

To provide the world with a fully circular material that has an extremely low or net-negative carbon impact, can be used for many decades, and can be recycled repeatedly.

By doing so, we aim to reduce the need for extracting virgin materials through mining, drilling, or deforestation, and enable a sustainable material system that supports both the planet and future generations.

Dr Babu Padmanabhan

Dr Babu Padmanabhan

Founder

An engineer with a Ph.D. in
analytical kinematics from Virginia Tech, Dr. Babu worked on NASA's International Space Station before pioneering "Fractional Conjugate Geometry" the engine behind STEER World, his highly successful global conglomerate.

With over 30 inventions and 150+ international patents, he turned this expertise toward climate and sustainability incubating STEERLife, Phitons, and unWOOD to tackle plastic pollution, deforestation, and microplastics at a planetary scale.

Co-Founder & CEO

As Co-founder, Vishal Mehta is deeply committed to addressing two of the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges — deforestation and plastic waste.

As CEO, he leads the company’s strategic direction, ensuring that durable, high-quality unWOOD products are accessible to customers everywhere.

With over 17 years of experience in the infrastructure sector, Vishal has worked with multinational corporations and international organizations on large-scale projects, including those in renewable energy — strengthening his passion for sustainability. His deep expertise in executing mega infrastructure projects gives him a unique edge in scaling unWOOD’s impact. Under his leadership, unWOOD is poised to transform physical living spaces on a massive scale, creating a greener, safer future for all.
